Our History – Celebrating 40 years!
D.G. Smith Insurance Brokers was established by David Gordon (D.G.) Smith in 1981. Dave operated the business from the basement of his family residence in Leaskdale, Ontario for 25 years. In 2005, as the company and team continued to grow, D.G. Smith Insurance relocated from the comfortable confines of the home office to a retail space in Uxbridge.
With more clients and larger office space, Dave’s son Kevin and daughter-in-law Keri, joined the brokerage. The profitable growth under the leadership of Keri and Kevin positioned them to purchase the brokerage, while Dave moved on to retirement.
After many successful years of ownership, the opportunity for Keri and Kevin to transition into new, irrefutable careers lead them to make the hard decision to sell the brokerage.
In February 2017, born and raised Uxbridge residents, Quincy Huntley (Boadway) and Laura Huntley (Beaton), took the opportunity to purchase and manage the brokerage. In 2018, they purchased a historical building in downtown Uxbridge that has been fully restored into their new office space. With an excellent team in place, the brokerage has continued to experience profitable growth.
D.G. Smith Insurance continues to operate as a family business serving our local community and clients throughout Ontario. We look forward to our future supporting families through more than just insurance. We live, work and play here, so the health of our community is a top priority. The Uxbridge Music Hall
The Music Hall board purchased a new state-of-the-art projector, which can be used to project high-definition still images or video onto virtually any surface. The new tool will enable dance and theatre groups to create high-impact, innovative displays. The purchase was made possible by a generous donation from local corporation DG Smith Insurance.
MS Society of Canada
D.G. Smith Insurance is a proud supporter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada and the MS Walk. A portion of our proceeds go to this organization each year.

The Shoppes of Uxbridge
Despite the challenges, DG Smith Insurance has successfully moved into their new building at 86 Brock St. West in Uxbridge. To celebrate, they held a small gathering on Nov 13. Joined by Mayor Dave Barton and Willie Popp, Deputy Mayor and Ward 4 Councillor, they performed a balloon popping ceremony.
